Broken and Beautiful is a commissioned artwork for TransBefrienders and Rainbow Families SG. The artwork was created to be featured in the Dysphoria/Euphoria exhibition which took place from 11 to 20 November 2022, at Projector X: Picturehouse, The Cathay. The artwork was accredited to my previous name, Naaliyah Noor Daneen, which has now changed to Lily Nadine. The exhibition featured the works of 8 local trans and gender-diverse artists. The physical print of the artwork was sponsored by Rainbow Families SG and Heckin' Unicorn. Artwork is available for purchase.
"Depicted are injured butterflies that are preserved and pinned to be forever encased for display. Much like the taxidermy on display, transgender people are subject to external societal scrutiny throughout their lives. However, at the end of the day, an injured butterfly is still a butterfly. They may be broken, and yet, their beauty exudes all the same."
